Minister of Transportation and Communication Binali Yıldırım said “approximately 11 milion of mobile phones is moved into the blacklist because of being stolen or smuggled. This costs Turkey over 2 billion dollars ”

Minister Yıldırım pointed out that according to the Mobile Equipment Identity Register (MEIR) there are 120 million of registered and 11 million of blacklisted mobile phones and said that “Turkish people has spent 27-28 billion dollars for mobile phones. 11 million and 157 thousand of 131 million phones are on blacklist for being smuggled or stolen and are closed down. These phones which have an average value of 200 dollars cost Turkey 2 billion dollars.”
